Questions I have...
Do I need to own a computer to attend?
No. Each family will be loaned a computer system (including computer and internet reimbursement) to support the learning process. Specifically, the school offers one-to-one computer devices to support the learning environment. These computer systems are instructional property and must be returned when the student leaves the Chicago Virtual Charter School. The Chicago Virtual Charter School will arrange for technical support and troubleshooting for these systems.
What computer skills are required?
The teaching adult needs to have at least basic computer skills. Use of the computer is an important part of the program, but in the early grades it is mostly the parent (or other responsible adult) who works with the computer. The program is user-friendly, and technology support is provided.
I need to pick up my child's device. What is the procedure for that?
If you have not yet had a chance to pick up your child's device, please see Ms. Tucker. Families who have not attended orientation will need to do so before receiving a device. Orientation will take place daily Monday- Thursday at 10:00am.

How can I contact Edgenuity technical support?

Where can my student's email see their email on-line (internet)?
Your student or the parent/guardian can view thier emails at Outlook365 Sign-in. You will need to provide the student's Windows login and password. The student's Windows login is the login that ends in @cvcschool.org.
What is my student's username and password?
Your student's usernames and passwords were sent to the email address that was provided to us during your student's enrollment. If you need it, please email email@example.com. In that email, you will need provide us with your first and last name also the first and last name of the student.
What is my, the Learning Coach, login?
Your login, aka Genius login, is needed to view your student's progress was sent to the email that was provided to us during your student's enrollment. If you need it, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. In that email, you will need to provide us with your first and last name.
How can I change my student's password?
For your CVCS issued laptop, please visit Change your Office 365 password. Please not that you will need to remember what you entered as this will change the password to log into the CVCS issued laptop. We can reset the password via email to email@example.com. Please note: You cannot use your students first and/or last name in the the password and must be at least 6 charaters (letters) long.
For your student's Genius account (The username to gain access to courses on the CVCS website), this was assigned and cannot be changed at this time.
How can I change my, the Leaning Coach's, password?
Currently, this is not available. We can send you the password as mentioned above.
Why are their two different username and password for my student?
We have worked with the different vendors. Our main vendors for our courseware, currently, does not allow us to use your students Microsoft Office 365 account.
How to I sign up my student up for self-service password reset (For Office 365, aka Windows login, only)?
Self-service password reset allows you to text or email a temporary password without the need of going to the helpdesk or CVCS IT. You will need to know the student's Windows login information, username and password. You will need to have a mobile device that accepts texts or call, a external email address (not the email that CVCS provded to your student) and setup 5 security quest. Once you ready please follow the instruction: Register for self-service password reset. Note: You do not need to provide an office phone at this time. Again, you will need a mobile device that accepts text or call AND a non-CVCS email address.
How safe is my student's and my, Learning Coach/parent/guardian's, information?
We conform to federal, state laws and regulations and also to Chicago Public School (CPS) rules and policies.
